New Delhi, India - May 4, 2006: Kirusa, the leading global provider of the Voice SMS solution and multimodal platforms, today announced the opening of its South Asia sales office in New Delhi, India. Voice SMS - a new wireless application: the next wave for Mobile Telephony

The Kirusa Voice SMS (KV.SMS TM) solution enables mobile users to send SMS messages with voice and reply to SMS messages with voice. The solution is based on Kirusa’s patent pending technology, works on all handsets and networks, and provides an open platform for deployment of additional applications. KV.SMS features the industry’s most intuitive user interface as well as many traffic-stimulating features, such as Click2ListenTM links for one-click listen and reply, MMS integration, voice information services, and interconnection between mobile network operators. KV.SMS can be deployed in a matter of weeks, and its fast user adoption has led to explosive revenue growth for Kirusa’s customers.

Kirusa pioneered the Voice SMS solution in South Asia with the first deployment of KV.SMS in partnership with GrameenPhone in Bangladesh in September 2005. Kirusa, based in New Jersey, USA, already has an R&D office in Bangalore since 2003. The sales office in Delhi will provide local sales support to wireless carriers in the region, enabling them to leverage Kirusa’s ability to deploy the Voice SMS solution in less than 60 days via simple integration with their existing network infrastructure. Support is also provided locally from its R&D facility in Bangalore.

Inderpal Singh Mumick, Founder and CEO, Kirusa says, “South Asia is a very exciting market for Kirusa. Mobile wireless is growing rapidly in the rural and multilingual regional markets, and people need easier ways to communicate. With Kirusa’s Voice SMS’ ability to send and reply to text messages with voice, and its support for local languages, carriers can achieve a significant increase in SMS penetration rates in rural and regional markets.”

In announcing the appointment of Taranjit Batra as Vice President Sales for South Asia, he adds, “We are pleased to have Taranjit Batra lead our sales activities in South Asia. His experience and knowledge of the telecom market will be invaluable to our customers and partners alike.”

Mr. Batra comes to Kirusa with over 25 years of successful sales, marketing, management, and finance experience in multinational corporations in South Asia. Previously, he was with Eaton Corporation, a US-based diversified industrial manufacturer, serving as General Manager Sales for their South Asia Channel Operations with a focus on the ICT and Telecom segments. Mr. Batra has also held senior management positions with Emerson Electric, a leading supplier of hardware to the telecom industry, and with Larsen & Toubro Ltd., a technology-driven engineering conglomerate based in Mumbai. Mr. Batra holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

“For mobile operators, Kirusa’s Voice SMS solution represents a unique value added service that fulfills subscribers’ pent up demand for convenience and ease of use, which will lead to significant growth in SMS penetration and usage” says Taranjit Batra. He also cited “the strength of Kirusa’s global management team comprised of leading industry veterans” as key elements behind the strength of the solution.
