Dr. Inderpal Singh Mumick is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Kirusa, Berkeley Heights, NJ, which he co-founded with colleagues from AT&T, Lucent, and Airtouch. A serial entrepreneur, Inderpal previously co-founded Savera Systems, Murray Hill, NJ, where he was the CEO and the CTO. Before Savera, Dr. Mumick was a Principal Technical Staff Member at AT&T Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, a Member of the Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, and a Research Student Associate at IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA.

David holds a B.E.E. (1960) and Ph.D. (1966) degree in applied physics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. In 1968, after spending two years as a Research Associate at the Electron-Physics Institute of Chalmers Technical University in Gothenberg, Sweden, he joined AT&T Bell Laboratories first working in the Mechanics Research Department.

Dr. Mumick's vision and leadership has established Kirusa as the world leader in mobile Value Added Services. Kirusa’s patented Voice SMS application is the most advanced offering in the market. Kirusa Voice SMS allows people to send SMS messages by speaking. A user dials * followed by the number of the recipient’s number, and speaks a short message of up to 30 seconds. The recipient gets an SMS message from the sender, and can “click” (or dial) a number in the message to directly access the spoken message. After listening to the message, the recipient can reply by voice, or by text, or can forward the message. The Voice SMS application is built on Kirusa’s patented multimodal platform that allows wireless carriers to offer multimodal applications with integrated vocal and visual interfaces. A telecom and wireless visionary, Dr. Mumick believes that Voice SMS opens up a new communication paradigm, and will account for 15—25% of all SMS messages exchanged on mobile networks over the next 4 years. He is responsible for the company's strategy, is the co-author of several key patents on Voice SMS and multimodality, and is active in all aspects of the company's operations.
Prior to Kirusa, Dr. Mumick led Savera from its founding in 1997 until 2000, a period in which the company developed its first products, developed its marketing and sales strategy, and successfully engaged with several revenue generating customers. Savera, an innovator in web-based billing, builds, markets, and operates interconnect billing software, used for billing between telecom and IP carriers for use of each other's networks, and prepaid billing software for wireless carriers. Dr. Mumick's pioneering work on the Sunrise research project at AT&T Bell Labs led Mike Miller, VP of Billing at AT&T, to comment: "this changes the paradigm of billing". The Sunrise project led to numerous billing initiatives at AT&T and Lucent. Dr. Mumick's work on recursion in SQL has been incorporated into the SQL 3 standard, and his work on query optimization has been incorporated into IBM's DB2 database. He is an international authority on materialized views technology, and his work on materialized views has influenced the implementation of materialized views in the Oracle 8i database.
Dr. Mumick is the author of eighteen issued patents, over ten patent pending applications, and over 40 technical papers in leading journals and conferences, the co-editor of a book on Materialized Views, a frequent speaker at conferences and trade shows around the world, and has been featured in media articles, including in European Communications, Silicon India, and The Hindustan Times. Voice&Data recognized Dr. Mumick as one of the top 50 Indian Telecom Diaspora that is changing the world of telecom.
Over the years, he has partnered with a host of network carriers and delivered some of the most ingenious mobile services that have effectively penetrated the telecom ecosystems of relevant markets. Kirusa’s clients include Airtel, Vodafone, Tata DoCoMo, Idea Cellular, TNM, Etisalat, MTN, Vivo, Econet, Glo, Orange, etc.
Dr. Mumick is also a frequent speaker at conferences and trade shows around the world and has spoken at events like IEEE WCNC, ACG, NJTC Internet of Things, Stanford Alumni Startups NY, ITU Telecom World, AfricaCom, etc. There has been significant coverage on Dr. Mumick in media articles by magazines like Forbes, IT Web Africa, IT News Africa, European Communications, Silicon India and The Hindustan Times. He has been named amongst the ‘Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business 2017’ by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC). He was also a finalist in the Ernst and Young, CEO of the year Awards, 2014.
He received a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India, in 1986, where he was awarded the President's Gold Medal, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1991. He further completed Mini MBAs in Finance and General Management from the AT&T School of Business in 1996 and 1998, and an Executive MBA for Growing Companies from Stanford University in 2000. Surinder Singh Anand
Vice President, Product Management
Surinder brings to Kirusa 18 years of complete software product development and delivery life cycle experience, including 12 years in a technical leadership and management role; expertise in telecommunication, mobile data networks, VoIP, billing & OSS, TCP/IP and OSI protocols and networks, web technologies and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Before joining Kirusa, Surinder worked as CTO & VP Business Development at Savera, a leading vendor of web based inter-connect billing solution for telecommunication and IP carriers. Surinder lead the efforts from conception to delivery for Savera's flagship product InterCarrier, with a scalable distributed architecture that supported processing of more than 2.5 billion transactions per month. Prior to Savera, Surinder worked at Network Programs in NJ as Product Manager where he designed and developed a network capacity planning and cost estimation tool for a CLEC and managed projects for wireless, cable and power-line communication network solutions. As a Senior Technical Leader at Hughes Software Systems (HSS) based in Delhi, Surinder led the development of the OSS subsystem of the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) product for mobile IP service culminating in successful deployment by multiple carriers in North America. From 1989 to 1994, Surinder was a Senior Scientific Officer for ERNET Project, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Surinder started his career at Tata Consultancy Services as Software Engineer.
Surinder holds a BS and MS in Computer Science from IIT, Delhi.
David A. Berkley, Ph.D.

David holds a B.E.E. (1960) and Ph.D. (1966) degree in applied physics from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. In 1968, after spending two years as a Research Associate at the Electron-Physics Institute of Chalmers Technical University in Gothenberg, Sweden, he joined AT&T Bell Laboratories first working in the Mechanics Research Department. He moved to Acoustics Research as a supervisor in 1975 and became head of that department in 1990. In 1995 he spent about 6 months in AT&T Business Communications Services on a rotational assignment as division manager, Global Services, Enhanced Voice Product Management. There he was responsible for InfoWorx, Advanced Transaction Processing, advanced voice platforms and SDN mobility features. In early 1996 he joined AT&T Labs Research as division manager of Speech Processing Software and Technology. In 1998 he became Speech and Image Processing Services Vice President, where he had overall responsibility for research in speech recognition, speaker recognition, speech understanding, and spoken language translation.
He also helped foster new technologies in multimodal interfaces and in image and video processing. In addition, he led the creation of business development and technical agreements with leading speech and image technology vendors to forward these technologies. David retired from AT&T in late 2000. He is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America with about 40 published papers and 9 patents.

She has received various recognitions and awards including - Top 25 Leading NJ Women Entrepreneur by NJ Monthly, Top 50 Women in Business by NJ Biz, ‘Salute to Policy Makers Award' by EWNJ (Executive Women of New Jersey) and the ‘CFO of the Year Award' by NJTC (New Jersey Technology Council).
Atanu Mandal

Atanu Mandal is a result-oriented business leader, with a passion for the industry, the customer and execution excellence. Atanu, an IIT Delhi, IIM Ahmedabad alumni, started Cellnext Solutions - the first Indian Mobile VAS company in 2000 before continuing his journey in ACL Wireless and Unified Telecom till end of 2010 – serving in top leadership positions and steering these companies into a position of strength within the Industry. Prior to this, he worked in various key positions with telecom operators during 1995-2000. He has served as the Head of Strategy for Escotel, as CFO for Modi Telstra and as CMO for Essar Cellphone during his stint with telecom operators.
Raja N Moorthy, Ph.D.

Moorthy brings to Kirusa more than 22 years of software product development experience, including 15 years in technical leadership and management roles. He has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, with a proven track record of building teams that deliver innovative solutions to market. Moorthy brings hands-on expertise in all aspects of the software development life cycle, from customer interaction and requirements analysis to revision control, maintenance and support.
Previously, Moorthy was Vice President at Network Programs Pvt. Ltd., an international software development company. He was responsible for development of major telecommunication software products in the areas of ATM signaling (for Fujitsu’s Fetex 150 ATM switch) and ATM-based application development. He managed the broadband networking division with multi-national and multi-location teams comprising more than 75 software development and testing personnel and an operating budget in excess of $10 million.
Moorthy joined Kirusa as Director of Engineering in October 2001. Prior to joining Kirusa, Moorthy was a Chief Technology Officer at Zyglobe, a startup company that provides end-to-end solutions to businesses to wirelessly enable their operations. Earlier, Moorthy was a Director of Engineering at Savera, Incorporated, the first company to build a 100% web-based carrier to carrier billing software product. At Savera, Moorthy successfully led the development team to build and deliver a product now used in more than a dozen European countries.
Moorthy holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India, a Master’s degree in Computer Science from College of Engineering, Madras, India and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Trichy, India.
Barinderpal Singh Mumick

Barinderpal Singh Mumick, Vice President, Operations, is responsible for the delivery and support of Kirusa products. He brings extensive experience and expertise in system integration and operational issues surrounding the delivery of software services.
Prior to joining Kirusa, Barinderpal was a technical analyst at Lucent Technologies in the CIO organization where he developed the architecture of several business applications, including web applications, and managed their implementation, integration, and operation in a production environment. These applications were globally deployed and used by Lucent employees and customers. Prior to Lucent, he designed and developed database applications at AT&T in New Jersey, and at the United Nations in New York. He has a BS in Computer Engineering from India, and obtained an MS in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
