Kirusa Selected by AlwaysOn as an AO Global 250 Winner

Recognized for game-changing technology and market value

New Providence, NJ; Monday; July 28, 2008: Kirusa, a leading vendor of Voice SMS and developer of mobile value-added services, today announced that it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the AO Global 250 Winners. Inclusion in the AO Global 250 signifies major developments in the creation of new business opportunities in the global technology industries. Kirusa was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and other industry experts spanning the globe, based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

Kirusa was honored at the AlwaysOn & STVP Summit at Stanford which occured on July 22-24, 2008 at Stanford University. This two-and-a-half day executive event highlights the significant economic, political and commercial trends disrupting the global technology industries and features the most innovative companies, eminent technologists, influential investors and journalists in keynote presentations, panel debates and private company CEO showcases.

Kirusa has introduced a new messaging paradigm to the world, providing asynchronous communication with voice. The technology, called Voice SMS, allows people to send SMS messages by speaking. A user dials * followed by the recipient’s number, and speaks a short message of up to 30 seconds. The recipient gets an SMS message from the sender, and can directly dial a number in the message to access the spoken message. After listening to the message, the recipient can reply by voice, or by text, or can forward the message.

Voice SMS brings the power of mobile communication to a larger class of mobile users and contexts, allowing users to send messages with voice, without the need for typing. Users can communicate faster, more easily, with emotion, compared to sending text messages. It is less expensive than the cost of a phone call, and messages can be sent without disturbing the user.

“The AO Global 250 winners have excelled in key strategic areas in the global technology markets,” said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. “We congratulate Kirusa for its success in introducing new services and platforms that are driving the next phase of innovation and creating real value at an economically uncertain time.”

The AO Global 250 was selected from over hundreds of companies, nominated by a panel of industry experts in the online technology, media, entertainment, enterprise and greentech sectors from around the world.

On the occasion, Dr. Inderpal Singh Mumick, CEO of Kirusa said, “We are delighted that the AlwaysOn editorial team has honored Kirusa’s innovative Voice SMS application. We thank the dozens of carriers and the millions of mobile subscribers around the world who have adopted the Voice SMS application. In a market where new scenarios and new opportunities are emerging every passing day, Voice SMS is bringing value to mobile subscribers, and revenue to mobile carriers.”
