Claro will launch a new form of communication, simple, friendly and cheap in the Peruvian market: “Claro Voz”

Lima, October 21st, 2009: Keeping their offer of innovative forms of communication among their customers, Claro Voz, the cellular service for peer-to-peer communication thru the sending of voice messages will be available in the Peruvian market starting on November 9th. This solution will add to the current lineup of traditional messaging solutions like text messages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS), and thus it is expected to benefit the almost 8 million users that this telecommunication company has already in Peru.

This novel value added service will allow the user to send and receive voice messages, to reply with another voice message, re-listen, forward messages to share them with other users, or even schedule the voice messages to be sent later on. With this service the limits of traditional text messaging will be surpassed.

The mechanics are very simple, it is only required to use a * as prefix for the cell number of the user one wants to send the message to, the Claro user will be able to record and send up to 30 seconds of its voice, whereas the called user will receive a short message (SMS) of the same user who left the message, that will contain the access number that is to be dialed to listen to it.

Starting from the commercial launch and until December 15th of 2009, Claro’s user will be able to use the service Claro Voz for only S/.0.10 for message*. Upon finalization of this period, the charge for send, forward and reply thru another Claro Voz will be of S/. 0.25, and the re-listen will be of S/. 0.15 per message. The listening of new messages are free of charge.

Consequently, Claro will become the first operator of the America Movil group and the first company of telecommunications in the country to launch the service Claro Voz, utilizing technology from Kirusa Inc., a value added services developer.

*Cost for message sent, replied, forwarded or re-listened.
